I'm kind of embarrassed to say that my kids have never seen snow. Ever. I know...ridiculous, isn't it? Our excuse is that because my husband and I grew up in the midwestern part of the US we had our fair share of snow and once we moved to sunny California we just couldn't bring ourselves to go back to it. If given the choice to drive 4 hours to the mountains or 30 minutes to the beach, the beach wins out every time.
Well now I can say that my Veggie Kids have officially been broken in-they've seen snow! We took a trip to my hometown in Iowa and apparently brought the snow with us. Maybe it didn't help that my boys were literally praying for snow on this trip-sorry Iowans!
Our main reason for going to Iowa; the Div. I National Wrestling Tournament!
With my parents.
The Des Moines Science Center housed a replica of "Sue", the most
complete T-Rex ever discovered. Way cool!
My middle Veggie Kid could've spent all day in the woods, despite how cold it was. We followed deer tracks (and poo) deep into the woods near my brother's house. I do love all the wide open spaces in Iowa. It's something that doesn't really exist in the Bay Area!
My oldest Veggie Kid helped make vegan dinners and appetizers! He has a great knack for adjusting recipes. Hmm...wonder where he got that from.
We also relaxed by watching movies and a day is never complete around here without a dog-pile!
So that's where I've been but now we're back and gearing up for spring break next week where we'll be hitting up Disneyland for the first time. Lots of firsts around here. I'm eager to get back to the cookbook too!
